In 2013, Violet Kind tried out some new dance ideas with willing students at her Mankato dance studio. These experiments became Fly Fusion®, a trademarked format inspired by her background in fusion belly dance which now has certified teachers in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and the UK. We are excited to be offering TWO weekly classes! Fusion Fundamentals is a great place to start as a beginner. You'll gain all the necessary techniques to prepare you for Fly Fusion. Mixed Level Fly Fusion is for those who have previously been Flying or who have plenty of technique experience.
THE STUDIO
Welcome to our new home at Menari Body Works! We are so excited to be a part of this gorgeous space! Located at 121 E. Cherry St. in Mankato, MN. Come in through the front door and use the door to the right to go downstairs to the studio.
THE TEACHER
Hey, I'm Violet! I was born in Mankato and have been teaching here since 2011. I also teach online and in different parts of the world. Wherever I am, my goal is to create a supportive community and fun dance experience. I've been told my passion about dance is contagious, so watch out ;)
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
Comfort and ease of movement is the priority! Students generally wear leggings or sweats with a t-shirt, tank top, or sports bra. Wear what makes you feel good! You do not ever have to show your belly. Lots of students dance barefoot, some with socks, and some wear clean dance shoes. You can optionally wear a belt or hip scarf to accentuate your hip movements. Don't overthink it ;)
I have two left feet... should I even bother?
If I had a dollar for every time I heard this I'd be rich! ;) I LOVE teaching absolute beginners. My goal is to make you feel welcomed and capable of the dance shenanigans we get up to. I remember my first dance class and how terrifying (and exciting!) it was to finally take the plunge, and it changed my life. I teach growth mindset techniques which stress the fact that talent is learned and not inherent and in order to get good at anything, you've gotta suck at it first. So, come on in.. the water's fine!
What ages take this class?
I've had students from ages 10-75 in my classes and I think that's one thing that makes dance so special! This class is comprised of mostly adults and may occasionally feature some strong language, but mature kids attending with their parents are welcome. WEDNESDAYS 6:00-6:50P
Make your shimmies sparkle and your undulations flow. Students will work on core techniques required for Fly Fusion. Variations will be offered for all levels. No experience required; ALL levels welcome.
MIXED LEVEL FLY FUSION
WEDNESDAYS 7:00-7:50P
This session we're going to dive deeper into the expansion vocabulary following our session of the Twister family. Gain confidence in your Fly technique as we groove! Some Fly Fusion experience is required.
